Meet Reverend William Thomas Sherer III

Riverview Presbyterian Church’s pastor, Reverend William Thomas Sherer III, joined our loving Christian community on March 1, 2021. Prior to being a man of God, he was a military serviceman for 28 years before retiring.

Personal Life

Reverend Tom Sherer is married to Judy Robinson Sherer, a musician and beloved music director at Riverview Presbyterian Church. They have four sons together, although one has sadly passed away.

Throughout the years, Reverend Tom Sherer has faithfully served many Presbyterian churches in the Carolinas, such as:

  • Pressly Memorial ARP Church in Statesville, NC, for 2 Years
  • Providence ARP Church in Clinton, SC, for 15 Years
  • Honea Path Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Honea Path, SC, for 11 Years
  • Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Rock Hill, SC, for 15 Years

The Thornwell Home for Children is located in Clinton, SC, is a ministry of the south Atlantic Synod of the Presbyterian Church USA serving abused, abandoned, and neglected children in SC, GA, FL. The home opened in 1875 and is one of the oldest homes in the United States. The children at Thornwell live in a family setting in 11 residential cottages with eight to ten children and professional caregivers in each home. They learn how to value themselves and their families and are assisted in learning academic and social skills, sound values and high morals. http://www.thornwell.org

Riverview proudly serves the Fort Mill Care center with monthly donations of food, cleaning supplies and hygiene products.  An Amazon Wishlist list can be found on the Fort Mill Care Center’s website, http://Fortmillcarecenter.org. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off M-TH here at the church’s Fellowship Hall from 9am-12pm and Sundays, 9am-12pm.

This offering helps to support the ministry of Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina for older adults. Presbyterian Communities operates six retirement communities across the state that hundreds of seniors call “home”.  For more information see, http://prescommunities.org

This is one of the largest offerings taken up by the Presbyterian Church at large. It is a great way for small churches to join other churches, big and small, to make a difference in the fight against disaster, poverty, food shortages and dirty drinking water internationally.  This offering is usually collected on Palm Sunday.  For more information see http://pcusa.org>special-offerings
